Welcome to my site about wedding shower favours!

The wedding shower is traditionally sponsored by the maid/matron of honor and the bridesmaids. Decorating and planning the wedding shower can be fun, exciting and inexpensive. Each party guest receives a wedding shower favour such as a sachet for drawers and tea, an engraved key chain. Ideas for favours will be explored in detail with this blog.

Wedding Shower Favours - The Fruit compilation

Recently writing about fruit as wedding table decorations, I thought they would be a really great way to make unique wedding shower favours as well. Fruit is so beautiful and usually available year round. So on that note here are some favour ideas for your next bridal shower.

Fruit baskets are lovely gifts for every guest at your party. They can be as small or as large as you want. You can purchase them through FTD flowers or make them on your own. Visit a farmer's market for fresh fruit and your local craft store for some baskets. Each guest can get one basket with 4 fruit inside.  You can even spice up the fruit baskets with little cheese samples as well. Check a local cheese store or supermarket for mini cheese wheels.

Continuing on the fruit and cheese theme, a small packet of cambembert cheese with a mini bottle of wine and a small bunch of grapes. You can put these in a basket or give each guest a small unique little plate with which you've served the grouping wrapped in cellophane.

Use gift bags to make unique little totes for your fruit gifts. Fill them with several types of in season fruit.

Buy a bunch of fruit and jars and make jam. Use smaller jars and you can give each guest a taste of different types of jams. Jam is easy to make even though it takes a long time. Give each guest a jar of fruit jam and muffins.

Read my jam cooking instructions just to see how easy making jam is:

Amounts of fruit per sugar varies, find a recipe online for whichever jams you choose.

Crush or use a blender for the fruit to make it a mash. Stir fruit and sugar mixture until sugar is dissolved. Whilestirring often to avoid buring the jam and your pan, bring the mixture to a boil until the jam is 225 degrees. Pour into jars leaving about space for expansion and seal. Do not place into refrigerater until cooled completely.

Happy Wedding Shower!

Wedding Shower Favours - Chocolate

Wow my favorite subject! First I want to point out that chocolate is a natural mood enhancer. What a great way to start a wedding shower with all your guests happier from eating chocolate, even the ones on a diet (dark chocolate health benefits) and diabetic (sugar free chocolate).

Chocolate wedding favor/favour ideas:

Those chocolate fountains are beautiful and delicious, but a wedding shower favour is less expensive, and when made for an individual, more memorable. With that in mind here are some great ideas for chocolate wedding favors!

At a local chocolate store like Godiva or Sees Candy you can pick up individualized chocolates to give to guests. Choose an assortment of sugar free, dark chocolate, milk chocolate and white chocolate candies. Ask the candy store operators for specialty small boxes with purchase! Sometimes they will offer it free when you spend a certain amount. The small boxes can be gift wrapped and given out at the bridal shower.

Chocolate cake or brownie mixes can be made and given out to guests with recipe cards included. Make each recipe special with nuts, specialty dark cocao or white chocolate chips.

Hershey's kisses both silver and colored can be made into designs for each guest. Use a small tie box and spell out each guest's name in colored kisses with silver kisses and foil between.

Stuff little candy dishes with assorted chocolates for each guest.

Make homemade chocolate covered strawberries and cherries.

The sky is the limit with chocolate. Post your ideas for others to read in my comments section!

Homemade Wedding Shower Favours – The Sachet

One of the best wedding shower favours is the sachet. It can be bought or made at home. A sachet wedding favour is a small cloth sack containing dried flowers, tea, spices or wood shavings. Women and men use sachets in drawers or shoes to keep them smelling pleasant. Sachets can also be used for tea bags. The wedding shower planner can buy or make sachets. Both options are inexpensive.

One of the best places to buy wedding shower favours is at beau-coup.com. My particular favorite is their wedding dress sachet. The little gowns are about 7 inches tall and have sachets of lavender sewn inside. They also have bridesmaid dress sachets which are extremely cute and personalized tea sachets.

Homemade Sachets - Add an inexpensive yet personal touch to each guest's favour with a homemade sachet.

How to make sachets for-

  1. inside contents – potpourri, dried vanilla, wood shavings with scented oils, cedar shavings, spices (cinnamon, cloves etc) or dried citrus peels. Different types of tea can be used with cheese cloth for a personalized tea bag.

  1. cloth – buy some inexpensive white handkerchiefs, buy silk handkerchiefs at a local thrift store, buy a bolt of linen or satin and cut into small 6 inch diameter circles. Cheese cloth for tea satchets.

  2. Ribbon – at local craft stores buy inexpensive rolls of beads, pearls or ribbon.

  3. Personalize each sachet with the guest's name on the cloth – hint: you can buy stencils and black markers or fabric paint at the crafts store.

  4. Assemble sachet

More wedding shower favours will be included in future articles. Stay tuned to my blog!
